The Temporary Wife by Mary Balogh

The Marquess of Staunton cold-bloodedly advertises for a governess for his non-existent children, chooses the plainest and dullest applicant, and offers her marriage. His only motive is to anger his estranged father, who has chosen a different bride for him. After he has presented her to his family, he plans to establish her somewhere with a great deal of money and never see her again. Charity Duncan agrees to the strange bargain because she is desperate for money to help support her brothers and sisters. But when she meets his family and recognizes the pain behind the estrangement, her warm heart cannot remain aloof. And when Staunton realizes that his temporary wife is in fact neither plain nor dull, his cold heart stirs to new life.

As her world falls apart, Rawleigh has to try to make amends and win her love at the same time, while Catherine has to face up to her past and take a hand in rebuilding her life once more.

I also recommend Georgette Heyer. Especially Friday's Child. But you might also enjoy Julia Quinn. She actually wrote a Cinderella-like story with one of her main series. She has an eight-book series following the Bridgerton family in Regency England. That one is called AN OFFER FROM A GENTLEMAN. It was actually the first one I read in the series, but it is #3.

i aslo recommend Julia Quinn, her historical romances are very good. she has a series based on the Bridgerton family - each book follows a different member of the family. she has more novels that arent part of a series and one i recommend is "to catch a heiress".

Pride and Prejudice is a classic.
Devils Bargain by Jade Lee
In the Princes Bed by Sabrina Jeffries

A great historical novel with some romance elements is PIllars of the Earth. It's very readable and quite informative.

My personal favorite is "The Tenacious Miss Tamerlane" by Kasey Michaels. Makes me laugh out loud at the genteel insults, but still a very touching romance.

Georgette Heyer. She wrote a ton of romances, most of them Regency. Also Gaelen Foley's"Knight Miscellany" series.

i might vote for "and that i Kissed Him" ...(or "In Her Eyes") yet for different innovations i might say: -Out of the hurricane/ Stormy Eyes -Like a Thorn -keep in mind the Thunder -Tears and Rain (like the James Blunt song) -Over Our Heads a number of them experience too obscure, so attempt to discover something this might properly be slightly extra specific to your tale. (So that's tricky to return up with innovations, because of the fact i dont know the significant factors) i've got purely kinda executed a brainstorm, so none of my innovations are staggering, yet i wish this facilitates! And sturdy success!
