My friend and I are close. He says he loves me ( I'm sure like a friend). When he says that why do I freeze up and can never say it back. I feel fine writing it but I just can't say it to him! I'm a girl by the way

I used to like him as more then a friend but not really anymore. I'm not sure what I feel towards him.

Maybe because subconsciously you know that he perhaps really likes you for more than a friend and to say it means that you are confirming to him that there is the posibility that your friendship could be more..Writing it is different than saying it, everyone usually says Love ya or I love you when they finish a note or letter. To say it verbally makes it sound like a commitment and most people don't make those kinds of commitments easily. Never say it unless you really mean it is my motto... Don't be so hard on yourself, you will say it when your ready. Perhaps when you know that it does not come with more than a friendship...

Only you dear can really know the answer to why you can't say it back. Maybe you don't feel the same, maybe you are afraid your answer would be misinterpreted, maybe you are not ready to say it yet, maybe you are one who shows your feelings rather than say them,...the list is endless.

What I can say is that if you can't say it, then don't. It will in the end maybe sort it self out.

The reason you can't say it back is because you don't love him.
You said you're sure like a friend but i don't think you believe that, you think it's more that's why you freeze.

telling someone you love them opens a new chapter of life. That life is the fact that you can allow yourself to be open to care about and be hurt by this person. So when you don't say it back you are keeping up a wall of protection so no hurt will be committed

Maybe you haven't reached that point yet. You may need to put some more time in the relationship.

It's okay...at least you aren't automatically saying it back when you aren't really sure you feel that way. Be true to yourself and honest with others... ☺

I think your afraid to say that, because if you do you may find yourself feeling more than just friendship and inside you don't want that to happen.

It's normal to feel uncomfortable about it.

Because your heart doesn't love him. If you do love him, you would be able to say it out loud. Just stick to what you are comfortable with saying.Who says you have to say "I love you" to him? You don't! Maybe say "love you". You feel comfortable saying that.

maybe you are afraid and think that if you say it to him he might think that you want more than just frienship
The best think is for you to put the relationship into perspective

Good luck

I would say because you have true feelings for him. Do you love him?
