I'm friends with my exes, but I think that's because I've only ever dated friends. I've never met someone and immediately began dating. It's about impossible for me to be emotionally intimate with someone I don't trust, and the only way I can build trust with someone is to get to know them and be friends first. Anyone who's been in a really good relationship knows that without emotional intimacy it's impossible to grow together. That also means I tend to be in longer relationships, and I think I've just been really lucky that the few exes I have are all mature enough to be friends still. It can be tricky, but just because you fall out of love with someone in a romantic way doesn't mean you stop caring about them and loving them in a platonic way - the way it all began.

In 8 years I've had 4 boyfriends. I also dated lots of guys for fun who wanted to get serious. Each boyfriend wanted to marry me. I stay friends with those 4, but only talk on the phone. As long as they have feelings, it's too hard to see them in person. For me no guy has ever wanted to just be friends. I think many are like that, but I can't speak for every guy out there.

I've had 2 serious relationships. The current one I'm in (of 7 months) and the prior one lasting 3 years.

I've had about 3 other petty relationships... one in which I still hold a friendship with.

4 major relationships, at least 10 or so not so serious. I'm not friends with any of them. I just don't see them anymore, and I married the last guy, so it's really not appropriate to stay friends with old ex's.

I had 3 up to 10 yrs ago. Since then I never want to be in any relationship anymore. I break free from controlling and possessive behaviours they call love and give my self to the freedom of lust - it's been one decade of parties and I'm not ready to give it up yet but now I'm slowing down.
I was in the relationships thinking that love was wonderful and they said I love you, but then I know that I have to love them back in order to stay with them and I only liked them. Wasn't their fault I guess, not mine either in a way. I'm going 30 now so I still have time to party.

numerous ex-boyfriends, none of which I am in contact with. I had one serious boyfriend when I was in college and getting ready to go into the military, but we broke up. I haven't seen or talked to him in 15 years. 1 ex-husband, who I hope to never see again.

None of my exs are friends, they are more acquaintances now. I find it hard to be friends with exs, mine anyway, they think that they should be able to get a little extra something, and I'm not like that.

I have 4 exes and a bunch of guys I dated for short periods of time. One of my ex's just got married and his mom still emails with me every month. Another is in his forties and would gladly hook up with me anytime, anywhere. I'm 28 and now I'm married.
