It depends on the reason of why you follow vegetarianism.
Some people follow just because its their tradition. For some its a matter of health. For these people, its nothing to do with wearing leather articles.
But the true essence of of vegetarianism is to follow the path of "Ahimsa" means non-violence. We don't have right to kill other animal for our comfort and luxury. 9 out of 10 leather articles are made truly for luxury.
So if your reason of being vegetarian is other than "Ahimsa", then you can continue wearing the leather articles. If yes then stop using not only leather article but also the things that are made out of animal remains.

I have always been under the impression that vegetarianism only affects a person's diet. Often times due to the mindset that made an individual choose that diet, people will abstain from many products that....exploit animals (such as fur coats, leather shoes, leather bags, cosmetics that have been tested on animals, etc.)

Vegans advocate not using any animal product. This includes everything that comes from an animal, including dairy products, leather etc.
Although a poll taken recently in England turned up a national percentage of self professed Vegans, which was much higher than the percentage that does not consume dairy. So I think there are a lot of fashion victims out there who like the sound of being Vegan, without knowing what it entails.

There are three kinds of vegetarians - Those whose families have been vegetarian from time immemorial that it is out of the question for them to have got any outlet towards meat. Secondly, those who tried meat and dint get a liking for it and third, those who became vegetarian due to spirituality.
If you belong to the third kind and sincerely believe that you are not feeling good about leather etc., then carry on. Hats off to your self discipline. However, there are no laid down rules that you have to force yourself to follow. It is a question of how you feel towards it.

Depends purely on your reason for being a vegetarian. Some are vegetarian because meat is not their idea of good food. Others do it for purely health reasons. Many do it because they are very compassionate in nature. Many more because of religious reasons. If your reason is to ensure animals are not butchered for our convenience, comfort and to satisfy our tongues then there is also reason to not wear leather shoes etc if they have been taken from animals butchered for that reason.

No. It is usually "vegans" who abstain from the use of all animal products and animal-by-products.
Depending on the level of vegetarian you are, you still may eat and use things that come fome animals.
Some vegans may not eat animal-by-products, but still by wear leather.
Strict vegans stay away from consuming or wearing anything from an animal. This also borders on making a political statement.

This is true of certain strict, budhist monks and jain priest they even ware a mass so they do not get insect in the mouth by mistake.
The other people practicing this way of life are "Vagans". It has nothing to do with religion for them they may even belong to some main stream religion but are devoted to this life style.

To be a vegetarian is all about your eating pattern. It has nothing to do about your dress code.
