Odds are if it was a brand new document, it will be in the directory where Word Defaults too. Click File=>Open and look for a document called Document1, or something similarly generic.

If that fails the next best way is to do a search on your system on all documents modified in the last X hours (whenever this happened). Start => Search => Files and Folders, Documents, within last week. And scan through them for one with a modification date of (whenever it happened)

Just create at 'test' word document and 'save' it. You'll then be able to see the path where the other one was saved. Also, with Word open, click on FILE and scroll to the bottom and see if your last project is accessable from there. Good Luck. :-)
