Why did the opening of Oprah's school in South Africa get so much media attention, yet not once has the media shown us a new school in Iraq, or praised our troops and citizens for making it happen?

Good question...it would be nice to hear some stories like that coming from Iraq.

Oprah on the other hand...is a pathetic self-serving philanthropist. Her new Oprah academy is nothing more than a toy to feed her already super bloated ego. The school was heralded in with the usual pomp and circumstance we have grown to expect from Hollywood. And to build a school for 40 million to educate ONLY 150 girls ???? This from a women who espouses education is really the ONLY and best way out of poverty(Which I do happen to agree with)! But why limit that to only 150 girls? She says she wants the "girls to feel special"....so the lucky "chosen ones" will sleep on 200 ct sheets, have a spa, beauty salon, hair salon and spiffy uniforms designed by Oprah herself! Not much has ever been mentioned in regard to the education part.

And for a county that is trying to rebound from the terrible oppression of Apartheid and then AIDS....40 million could have educated thousands of children as opposed to 150.
This school is nothing more than some weird bizarre Oprah grooming school for special girls....perhaps her "legacy".

Oprah is a very powerful mogul in the media. she makes things happen when other cannot. People listen to Oprah, although I think that she is just as clueless as Bush. I am a US Army Veteran, Viet Nam Era, I think that it is a national shame that the brave men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan are given little to no recognition for the good things that they do for the Iraq people. It's just like Viet Nam---the media makes out the Army and the Marines to be nothing but a bunch of baby-killers. Oprah and the members of the media will have their day in God's court and they will not like what the Almighty will have to say to them.

Well where I am from, I don't have a middle school. Elementary school goes up until the 8th grade, then the 9th-12th grade is high school. From my personal experiences, I have found that high school is a lot better. I was able to meet more people, and develop more relationships with the people around me. Although, the down side is that there is a lot more drama involved in everyday life.

Because of the Main Stream Media's hatred of the War in Iraq and the dislike of President
Bush and the US Armed Forces of the US!!
That is one reason there will not be anything
about the good that the US Military is doing in Iraq and that is a fact!!!!

Because it was Oprah. Why did she have to go to South
Africa? Does America not need schools too? Why doesn't
Oprah give to help people in New Orleans? Why do Americans
think she is God. She is only Oprah. She is a shammed of
her race in the U.S. She could give more money away.

Maybe because no reporter is willing to get blown up in Iraq covering a propaganda story in the middle of a civil war Bush started.

The media is made up of a large percentage of liberals that don't want the US populace to know that we are actually doing some good over there . Besides , violence sells .
