There is Social Security for disabled people I get it but had to suffer through years of doing without needed help and go to court to finally obtain it . The system is very corrupt and slow , I feel they hope most who apply die during the waiting process they make it so difficult.

The answer is, we don't. There is some assistance available to those that need it. Granted, there isn't the socialist fabric that there is in most other industrialized societies, but there is some.
I think you've heard some horror stories about the U.S. that just aren't true. There may be a great deal of poverty and heath care may suck, but it's not like people are starving to death.
