My vote: kindergarteners get to cook.

I like your idea. At my school, the kinders DO get to cook. They have a kitchen and everything. :)

I'd introduce using proper manners at the lunch table. If we were to videotape our students during lunch and play the tape back to their parents...well, we'd have a lot of red-faced parents. It's something students will most definitely use throughout life, but it's not something that's part of the curriculum.

PS- This would be on the elementary level. For middle school, I'd introduce the concept of interacting with businesses- using the telephone, writing letters of complaint (and thanks), etc. For high school, I'd introduce the concepts of common sense and logical thinking. Based on some of your other answerers, it's something we're in dire need of.

I teach 9th grade P.E. in Northern California.

The other classes all sit on their tails for about 20 minutes, warm up, run about 0.5 miles, and then do some kind of activity for 20 minutes.

I warm the kids up as soon as they are dressed. They then run a timed, 100 pt., 1.5 mile run, warm down/rehydrate/ participate in an activity, warm down/rehydrate, and are then dismissed.

Their final exam is the toughest in the entire school (of ANY subject taught here, bar none): a timed two mile run.

How do they do it?

*I condition them slowly.
** I run /jog/walk with the students until they can jog a mile in 9 minutes.
**I praise them and build esprit d' corps within the class.
**I inculcate the value of a vigorous lifestyle as a positive thing through encouragement, activity, and leadership by example.

*The students in my school regularly try to transfer INTO my P.E. classes throughout the semester.

I've been doing this for the past 4 years (I was a classroom teacher for 18 yrs., prior to this); much to the chagrin of the other, donut-munching, clipboard-carrying P.E. staff.

Peace.

English and it reads like you should start as low and you can and get the right phonics. And learn how to make sentences. Start at least middle school level.

Ok first of all you are typing a question that is broken up, so you need some more schooling yourself. Also little kids getting to cook?! Maybe if you want them to die!!
