it sounds like your cover may be damaged and so the lug that trips the cover open switch is not being turned off when you close the cover.
either that or the switch is faulty.
either way you need to contact lexmark for support and or replacement.
or your cover may appear closed but is still open enough to trip the switch to the "cover open" position.
if you do not want to contact lexmark support then you can always (not recommended) find something to trip the switch to off and tape it in place. and remove it when you do need to replace ink for example.
