If you're starting from absolutely nowhere, I highly recommend the book "Sophie's World" by Jostein Gaarder. It is written much like a novel, and will expose you to the core of much of philosophical thought throughout history. The story is compelling enough to pull you through, yet it is also chock full of significant names and ideas in philosophy.

In that, it serves as a good launching point. You can read the book a couple times, find out what you connect with (or disagree with!), and then go find out more about those particular fields of thought. Link below, if it makes things easier.
