errr... that should be "misspell words" (with an extra "s" in misspell and another at the end of words).
So off to school you go then... bye!

I am 100% in agreement with you!!! I have a very hard time taking those questions (on Y! answers at least) seriously and won't answer them. If someone seems really stupid by many mis-spelled words, I usually don't answer.
Another thing is... when these kids that are in middle school and high school start typing using the wrong spellings and using a numbers in place of the actualy words (like in "sum1") how will this help them in the future if they will need to type a paper or something? I am so glad that I grew up when I did and having a great school and teachers to learn from. I don't think the teachers give the kids enough drive to want to learn as much as they once did.

I see where you are coming from. There are some positive things to writing "cool" it adds emotiion and character to your otherwise boing letters. When you speak you add various emphasis on certain words, however it's a little harder to add this to your writing. Spelling things a little different is just a way to spice it up. Plus it helps if you forget how to spell something. On the down side, some people especially those who like to send text messages come up with all sorts of crazy short words. I recommend buying a cell phone and start text messaging all ur frends win u see how spensive it is 4 each letter u type u will try to shorten ur words 2. If you can't stand that then just don't write your friends anymore, instead call them or see them in person.

Do you mean "why must people mispell wordS to make themselves sound 'cooler'?"
It was ironic that you made a grammatical error when you asked the question. Never-the-less, I don't think people are trying to be "cool" when spelling words that way, in a world of text messages and instant messages, it is just a quick way to get your point across.

I don't ever misspell words on purpose... It just happens.
I am the worlds WORST speller! Not too good with the grammar and punctuation either come to think of it. But I have learning issues concerning certain things so...
I therefore find people that do it intentionally... Repugnant!

For most people, me being one of them, it a way to shorten words so you don;t have to type as much. Plus when you're chatting it doesn't take as long to respond to what the other person has said. Plus it helps out the people who can't type very fast. It's just easier.

I am convinced we are going to have a new language eventually, the way things are evelvong in technology,it's starting to replace good gramar, and proper english .....kids are writing thier notes and projects in what i call the new "short hand"....... kids dont need to do simple math anymore, which is good, because I'm not confident that they know how!!!

Yeah, I totally can't stand that. It must take a lot of effort to butcher the language so thoroughly. It's like, we get it, you're "urban"...lol.
Everybpdy does tihs kind of stuff. But when I see the word "dewd" or "akshully" I just want to kill the person.
