Could be any number of things. If you've just started having you're period, it could just be because your body is trying to regulate itself. If not, you might have polycystic ovaries or something along those lines. Get an opinion from a doctor.

Irregular periods tend to occur when you have a thyroid problem.If it's not that your GYN doctor usually prescribes the pill to get you on a regular mensrual cycle.

It is quite common and can be triggered by stress or underlying factors such as PCOS etc... You need to inform your obgyn of this and get their opinion.
