There's always some crazy idiot who says the world will end at some certain time. 2000 was a big year for crazy idiots. There was the computer "glitch" that didn't effect much in the end. There was also a close grouping of planets around May that year that some people said would destroy Earth. But obviously they were wrong. What I find amusing is what those crazy idiots have to say the day *after* the predicted the world will end - one crazy idiot said that we survived only because a kind alien civilization came along and saved us from our doom. I'm not kidding! Don't listen to crazy idiots.

"People" have been predicting the "end of the world" for thousands of years -- and so far, every single one of them have been wrong.
They don't base these predictions on facts, science, knowledge, or experiment...they base them on superstition, religion, myth, legends.
None of those things have any credibility of any kind in making ANY predictions of anything.
Barring a collision with a huge asteroid or comet, the earth has about 4 billion years of life to go. At that time, our sun will swell up into a red giant (after it's used up its hydrogen and helium fuel for fusion), and its hot outer atmosphere will encompass the earth, baking us to a crisp and ending all life on earth. Assuming humans are still around in 3.5 billion years or so, they'll need to find another home then. But for now, we're not going anywhere -- no matter what anybody predicts. :)
