I just inherited a 55 gallon tank w/ 2 huge Oscars and there's no peace and love in their world... Does anyone have room in their heart for a feisty fishy friend?

So I've got two huge Oscars (12 in. +) in a 55 gallon tank with no love. I called several pet stores to see if they could find them a home but they all said they don't have room for them. Anyone out there with room for some big ol' fish in the Madison area?

If you should be living where its pretty warm (like in Florida) you can set them free. My Uncle caught many small Snook, Oscars and snagged a Mullet at Bonita Beach Florida.
just dont set them free if you are living way up to the north...

Full-sized Oscars need at least a 90 gallon tank, preferably even bigger.

I guarantee you someone will take them from you for free. Call a pet store, see if they want them or if they know someone who does. Offer them to a school if they have a big enough tank (although Oscars are not PC because they eat live fish).

Many fish stores will take them back for store credit. You can try a local paper, or posting an ad on one of the web forums like www.cichlid-forum.com or one catored to Oscars.

Just don't release it into the wild, that's terrible advice - ecosystems have been damaged and even destroyed from such acts.

You might be successful if you put an ad in the local paper or pin up an ad at the local pet/aquarium supply store.

Sell it on ebay or give it to a pet shop.
