When I put on my foundation in the morning a little while goes by and on dry areas of my face the foundation flakes and the foundation clumps i guess? and does not go on smoothly.
I use bare minerals and i thought that would be the answer, but apparently it must be dead skin? Any advice how to remove this skin or how to prevent it?

No i dont think i wear to much. After all it is the powder stuff so i just brush it on, its not liquid. And the reason i bought the foundation was the get rid of the dry look. I think I'll try the scruby beads and mositurizer. Any suggestions?

Your skin is too dry. When you get ready in the morning you need to wash your fash with a wash cloth. Then you need a good moisturizer. Then you can put a full coverage foundation on.

I would say use an exfoliation face wash about 2 times a week (to scrub off all the flakes) and use a deep night cream every night before you go to bed after washing your face (you a my already do this I'm not sure). And the other days just use a gel type face wash (exfoliation's scrubs are too harsh to use all the time.) The foundation is flaking because your skin must be a little dry. But that's nothing lots of moisturizer can't fix! If your skin is flakey it doesn't matter if you used the best foundation in the world... it still would not go on properly! It is not the foundation your using.

Always make sure you face is clean.
Scrubs can help with the dead skin but if your too rough or scrub to often it can make you skin break out (badly)
Witch hazel is VERY good on your skin. it removes oil, makeup, and leaves your skin smooth and soft, the best thing about it is that its completely natural! so it won't be harsh on your skin.
something that multiple dermatoligysts recomended for me was a face lotion called cetaphyl (i think thats how its spelled) it comes in a white wide bottle. the best thing about it is that its not oily and just a little on your finger can go a LONG way! combined with washing your face with the scrub everynow and then, washing your face with witch hazel, and then jsut a little lotion, that should all help with your skin!
another good (quality) foundation that won't dry your skin or make it oily is revlon colorstay. to be honest, im a foundation junkie. ive tryed and owed every brand and type of foundataion it seems but the best is revlon (to me) but it all has to do with your type of skin.
something thats always fun to do and very helpful is going to the mall! Seriously! you know those makeup counters next to the perfume and jewelry? usually there is some professional creeping around willing to help you out. she'll usually help you find your ideal color and type of foundation FOR FREE (unless you want to buy it from them, which is expensive)
I hope this helped!

bare minerals is great, but it isn't always the best for dry skin. try exfoliating your face (with a good scrub) and moisturizing with a cream for "dry skin" and then see if that helps. If not, you may have to use a liquid foundation for dry skin

it's not the foundation, it's dead skin.
when i have this problem i do this...
mix sugar and lemon in a small container.
put it in the fridge so it's cool.
wash and dry your face.
wash your face with the sugar & lemon mixture,
the sugar will scrub the dead skin off, while the lemon will smooth the new skin. do it gently, don't make yourself bleed.
after you scrub the sugar & lemon mixture, rinse and wash your face. moisturize and enjoy your new, flakeless skin.
*you might have to do this like once a week.
*make sure you wash your face BEFORE you do this, not washing it will cause bacteria to enter your pores and give you break outs!!!!!

It sounds like liquid foundation would be best for your skin type! Try one specially enhanced for dry skin.

Do you moisterize before putting on your makeup? Thats so important. Also, use a foam applictor for smooth, even application, and set it with LIGHT powder afterwards. Also a tip, after all your makeup is done, give your face a spritz of hairspray. That stuff don't just hold your hair in place!

Sounds like it may be wrong kind of your skin type. If you are a little on a drier side look for foundation specifically for that skin type.
