Depending on were you have your shopping experience the price can be determined, and if your a persistent bargainer,in getting value for money, one way tourist get what they want is by comparing prices in front of the vendor by doing this some persons will depreciate, the price so that the item can, sell, indeed its very common to see, especially in straw market Montego bay on Harbour street, and Howard Cook high.

However point is you have to be persistent,it may not always work by you getting what you want or need, but in general things are quoted in US dollars and by standard alot of the stuff you purchase are actually cheaper from persons selling it in the market place than the Airports or any other more develope shopping area of the country, why because you are able to bargain your way.

Not by American Standards, but remember that you don't have to pay the asking price. Most Americans offer half and then barter from there.

If you get the chance you can buy the same souvenirs at a flea market for even less than the normal shops.

Have fun.

Bob Marley official merchandise is expensive, you can expect to pay about 30$ for a t-shirt. Don't buy souvernirs on the first day, shop around, price for the same stuff can differ. If you are buying something on the street always bargain, normally you will pay about 50% of the starting price in the end.
For t-shirts check out local brends like Cooyah or La Pluma Negra.

I thought prices were very high and the quality of souvenirs was low. Vendors were also extremely aggressive. When my wife and I were there we felt like fish bait thrown into a shark tank. It was not a pleasant experience.

It really depends on where you purchase the items. If you are in a souveneir shop then it will be more expensive than if you just went into a regular store and bought something.

it truly is costly as you want to make it. if you're a frugal tourist you are able to spend $800 for the week w/air, motel, foodstuff, etc. if you're happening a honeymoon you are able to spend $5K or extra. I stayed at a funds position when I first travelled to Negril and that i ought to pay round $900 for per week. usually of thumb, you'll spend extra the first 12 months you go than the different time as you're gaining knowledge of a thanks to good deal and discover deals.
