I am very much torn between the notion that killing is wrong and capitol punishment.
But I simply cannot justify allowing someone to live who will only do further murderous damage in the world.
Whether it is Ted Bundy or Saddam Hussein.
It may sound strange but I feel it is a moral imperative to hold "capitolly" accountable the truly heinous like murderers, rapists, pedophiles, ruthless dictators and their upper echelon because their continued existence in society, even if it is prison society, can do nothing but further damage that might even gain reach outside the prison.
Executions, however, should be held to the highest standards.
To me the firing squad is still the least offensive form of capitol punishment.
Saddam's execution was not done in a "professional" manner.
That will only serve to cause their government problems.
I don't know if we have the right to criticize their government for they way they handled things.
I think they are figuring out for themselves that they could have done a more responsible job.
But they are also dealing with a tremendous upheaval of emotion around this man.
While certain this were wrong in the end the right final conclusion was met.

I don't know if it's saddness about the hanging of Saddam or the deaths around the world of the 10 to 13 yearr old boys that tried to imitate the hanging and killed themselves. The only people I know about that are sad about his hanging are his followers.

Some people are sad because they actually favor Saddam, or identify with him because they themselves have committed atrocities.
Some are sad because it is natural to feel sad at a human's death. Decent people have a hard time understanding evil. 100,000,000 people dead is a statistic, but 1 person dead is a tragedy. A decent person has to confront the reality of Saddam's atrocities before s/he can see the reason for Saddam's execution.

First everyone's sad, then they're mad because we're sad!! Get a grip, people!
It's still killing, no matter how many people the dead person killed. Saddam was a person too, you know, no matter how sane.
