This may sound stupid, but I think, like plants, humans generally thrive on sunlight. I work from home a lot and when the dark clouds roll in, I try to do something personal or play with the kids. If I force work on those days, especially in front of a computer, my eyes get strained easily and I get drained.
So, 'solar power' is my answer.

I don't consider it laziness, just contentment. I find no shame in staying in my pajamas in bed and just having an easy day watching a good movie, reading or sleeping with the beautiful noise from the rain as background. It's a time too for cozy foods like mashed potatoes, lasagna, cookies, etc. I do like to bake on cold rainy days too. It rained here in Dallas all weekend and I baked bread and giant blueberry muffins and cookies.

Probably just because it's darker on rainy days. People sleep during the night, when it's dark, so they feel more inclined to be lazy when it's dark outside.

Rainy days limit the environment and activities that we can do. Once we recognize this "restriction", we feel like we "can't do anything". From there it is easy to stay in our PJ's and camp out on the couch.

it's cold when it's raining. i don't really remember all the facts, but when temperature drops, the brain send a signal that makes you sleepy. i think that's why it's easier to sleep at night than day and also why 90 minutes of study at night is equivalent to 60 minutes of study at daytime. i hope that answers

It might be the hypnotic effect of the sound of the rainfall, providing a background noise that doesn't change (unless there is lightning and thunder).

Our ancestral could not hunt under bad time. So they were forced to stay at the caves, most of the time recovering their energies for a new hunt.
