Just wondering what the logic is. Every day 4000+abortions happen. EVERY DAY. Why arent the progressives arguing against that? Since the war started over 4 MILLION children died!
Seriously; whats the logic. Because it brings tears to my eyes.

Because the 3000 deaths in Iraq are American heroes, whereas most of those aborted babies would have ended up mugging people on the street.

It's actually very simple and very logical.

Ethical decisions are based on increasing happiness and reducing suffering.

An embryo has no consciousness, no awareness, so an abortion does not cause suffering for the embryo. Now, it may cause a certain amount of emotional pain for the mother who has the abortion, but a lot of that is due to the lies and guilt laid on people by the conservatives who want to tell other people how to live their lives. It also can just as easily bring happiness to the woman who does not want to deal with having a child under the given circumstances. If the situation is considered logically, in the light of objective moral standards, keeping abortion legal increases happiness and reduces suffering.

Sometimes a woman makes a decision to terminate her pregnancy, instead of bringing it to term. It is far better that this be kept legal, then that many unwanted children be brought into the world. The world is already overpopulated anyway. By what logic is it morally better to ban abortion and force women to have unwanted children? That is insane!

The 3100 American troops and 600,000 Iraqis who have died since Bush launched his lie-based war were all live, conscious human beings. The amount of suffering that the average Iraqi now experiences every day is horrific and is a direct result of Bush's lie-based war. The majority of people injured or killed in this war were innocent civilians, purely victims who had no choice in the evil that was inflicted on them as a result of Bush's lie-based war.

The hundreds of thousands of troops and civilians who have suffered permanent injuries as the result of Bush's lie-based war are conscious, living human beings who are suffering.

I respect your argument but disagree.

1,500 children die each year from child abuse. Should we outlaw parenting? No.

Fetuses, do not have a fully developed central nervous system, while soldier and civilians in Iraq or otherwise do, and can thus feel a lot more than an unborn child.

Also, if a child is never born, how can it die? One must be born to die.

And in response to the person arguing that "terrorists are born plotting to kill Americans" this is untrue. A small fraction of the people in these areas are raised to believe the teachings of terrorist organizations. Many of the people killed are simple civilians like you are me. If you think that we deserve to be randomly bumped off, then perhaps you need to reconsider your priorities.

Hold on. You cannot treat a dumb featus like an adult.

Using your logic, every time we sneeze, we kill bacteria.
Every time we eat, one of us (who is being eaten, plant or animal) has been murdered, premeditated = 40 years to life.
and every time you have a period you are a murderer.

Even when one sperm does get through - do you mourn for the many who dies & try to stop it ever happening again? Imagine how quickly wildlife would disappear if we multiplied that quickly.

Babe, a human being does not come into being in one day - it takes months for it to develop emotions, thoughts, coordinated movements. Until then it is nothing more than something that could (if wanted and given a good home and millions of hours of sweat and toil) have grown into somebody. Sob.

I think it is good that you care, but logic? Where is the logic on either side of that argument? What about the deaths inflicted on chimpanzees? Is there any more logic in killing a goat or human? Why?

If you are on and island with ten people and there is only enough food to feed five, how do you decide who eats?

If you claim that only liberals abort children, then I'd think you'd be HAPPY about abortions being legal. Unless you think conservatives are doing it too. Like it or not, abortion helps population control.

People are going to be stupid when having sex whether you, I, or anyone else likes it. There's no way to control that. But we can control them having children they won't support, and most likely will put into foster care or up for adoption/in an orphanage. And we already HAVE ENOUGH OF THOSE!

If you think it's going to make them responsible by having the child, you're dead wrong. They'll just pawn it off wherever they can if they truly want to get rid of it. And by that time, the child WILL have feelings, and will be permanently scarred or worse. Is that a better way to go than abortions?

Very good questions. I believe we hear the same argument about the death penalty.

Let's weigh issues:

Men and women serving their country-adults who know the odds on one side and innocent babies on the other.

Jeffery Dahmer, The Iceman, men who rape and murder small children on this side and again innocent babies on the other.

There is no logic there. The "it's a woman's body and it's her choice" arguement is lame. On demand abortion is supported only by individuals who don't want to be responsible for their own actions.

For it purely simply by fact i in my opinion do not think of I even have the main appropriate to tell that 15 year previous woman what to do, or her mum and dad. simply by fact of that, i think of that it is not my corporation to tell her to not do it. even although i could admire her desirous to maintain the toddler or putting it up for adoption besides. i won't be able to think of how hard that is for that poor woman to confirm a huge decision.

There is no logic. Size matters to those with very simple minds who seek or support a convenient option to undertaking responsibility for one's actions.

Their lives on earth will be short, their decisions here will impact them for eternity. If they come to that conclusion too late, so be it. Man has free will (right or wrong) and there are consequences associated with one's actions or actions they support.

On a more neutral note, 30,000 people die in car crashes each year yet no one is outlawing cars. And plenty of US soldiers died while Clinton was President when alquaeda bombed the Khobar towers in Saudi Arabia, bomed our embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, attacked our troops in Somalia and bombed the USS Cole.

So what is the logic, you ask. It's simple. Leftist liberals do not give a rat's behind about the lives of our troops. All they care about is attacking President Bush, getting power for themselves and creating another loss for the USA.
