Honey can cause allergies & should not be given to a baby :-) If you want to start solid foods try the gerber cereals for babies for a week & then start adding other foods (always try for a week to see how your baby tolerates that particular food, that way it's easier to figure out if your baby is having an adverse reaction to a particular food item).

Honey can harbor botulism which children under 1 year can't recover from as they have no natural antibodies strong enough...
Not wise for children under 1 year old.
Next time you visit, tell your pediatrician. If the baby is going to get sick, you'll know soon enough! Then go to the E.R. No need to panic unless you see symptoms.
What are the signs and symptoms of the condition?
Symptoms of foodborne botulism in adults and children usually begin within 18 to 36 hours of eating the contaminated food. However, symptoms can occur as early as 6 hours after eating the food, or as long as 10 days later. The symptoms include the following:
diarrhea
difficulty swallowing
difficulty talking, including slurred speech
dizziness
double or blurred vision
drooping eyelids
dry mouth
muscle weakness
paralysis
vomiting

Not only is honey unsafe at this age, babies that young are barely eating baby food ... a much more nutricious alternative than a mushed up graham cracker. You need to think first, feed second.

A 4 month old baby shouldn't be having ANY kind of solid food. Solids should not be started until 6 months of age. And then you need to start with something like baby rice cereal, bananas, avocados or sweet potatoes.
Honey can cause botulism. Since it was in something that has been baked, hopefully any botulism spores would have been killed off. But still best to not risk it since botulism is SERIOUS. (I know a little girl who almost died of infant botulism.)

Right...it's not safe to give babies honey because of botulism (sp?) and obviously he might get choked on crackers. At 4 months you should stick with things like cereal, fruit, and veggies. Gradually they will work up to other things. My son got his 1st tooth at 6 months. You can try things like mashed potates but just make sure to give them a tiny tiny bit at a time.

I think it might be alright since it was just once.Just watch your baby and if something changes call your doctor ,or you may go ahead and call your doctor and tell them what happened and get their opinion because honey is known to cause a form of food poisoning or allergies .Good Luck it was a honest mistake it will be alright.I would not give your baby any other solid foods try the baby food sections at the grocery store and see if there is anything that is right for your baby or talk to your doctor about it because adding too many things to your baby's diet can cause allergies and that could be dangerous to baby. Good Luck & Take Care.

No its not safe. Honey is often contaminated with a form of botulism that cannot harm adults (well, adults who don't have AIDS or something similar). However, the baby's immune system isn't fully formed yet and they have no defense against this. The botulism spores hatch inside your baby's digestive tract then begin to multiply. They form the famous botulism toxin and, when it reaches a certain threshold, your baby dies.
Don't do that again.

Watch her closely for the next 4 hours or so. You want to make sure she doesn't have an allergic reaction. Watch for any problems breathing, any wheezing, any swelling in her face or mouth, especially the tongue. If anything like that happens, call 911. She might break out in a rash over the next 24 hours or so. If that happens, call the doctor.

Never ever feed your baby honey!!!! If you want to give them something in the bottle add a little baby cereal. Honey can contain botulism and never should be given until they are at over one year old.

NEVER give honey to infants! I wouldn't give her a graham cracker at 4mos either! Put rice cereal in with her formula only until 6 mos of age. She needs extra iron at this time of her life and iron fortified rice cereal is excellent addition to thicken formula.
