I have had my arm "fall asleep" when I was sleeping so much that it woke me up around 18 weeks and doc said it was the position I was sleeping in. Now my arms and hands "fall asleep" or go numb to the point I can't feel them or my fingernails feel like they will pop off. I have a call into the doc since it has gotten worse, but has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas on what it is?

wow! this happened to me this morning - woke up and my hand/arm were asleep and tingly for an hour. it might be a kind of carpal tunnel syndrome, but ask your doctor. i thought it also might be because i am now having to sleep on my side, and my arms feel so awkward in this position!

Your doctor will need to answer this, so you've been very wise to call. This kind of sensation is not too unusual in pregnancy. Your blood is pumping through two people now, plus there is a chance that your baby may be pressing against some nerves, veins or arteries.

I had to sleep on my left side during both of my pregnancies. Since I had always slept on my right side or stomach this was challenging, but you get used to it- and pregnancy doesn't last forever. I also had problems with sciatica with my first pregnancy because of the baby's position.

im 17 weeks pregnant and this is happening to me all the time lol, my dr said not to worry, its just how im sleeping and blah blah blah. I sleep on my left side, and at night ive been waking up alot noticing my arm and hand sleeping so i switch to my right side, so all night long i toss and turn waking up one arm just to put the other to sleep lol. I think its completly normal. Our bodies are pumping out so much more blood, its very uncomfortable, i know lol. But what ive tried and it seems to be HELPING not curing lol is to put a pillow behind my back like a body pillow and laying at a tilt more and putting some of the weight back on the pillow and not so much onto my side. Goodluck!!!

Yes my sister and I! It was horrible and we had to where an ace bandage and I found a tennis elbow brace from our local drug store helped and a wrist bandage. Our doc said it was poor circulation due to pregnancy. My sister had no feeling all the way down her fingertips. She was so afraid she wouldn't be able to feel her first child. But it went away as soon as she gave birth. The brace my doc gave my sister did not help and neither did the ace bandage but we found the tennis elbow brace helped alot. Good luck hon and just know although pregnancy seems like an eternity it will be over soon...just not soon enough...i know;)

I'm 21 weeks, too, and I've been noticing my arms and fingers fall asleep a lot now. Especially in the morning or if I'm just sitting down.

Isn't that a symptom of pre-eclampsia?? Not entirely sure, but I think u can get numbness with this condition>> I would get checked out again just to be on the safe side

It could be something simple like your baby sitting on a nerve, but it could be something serious so go gte it check out as soon as possiable.
