being that you have anxiety and Panic disorder I HIGHLY recommend the IUD. I dont have it but I carry the gene and the Depo, pill, and the patch brought it out in me (specifically the depo) I have now been on Mirena 4 years and have been doing well. The level of hormones the Mirena IUD has its very minimal and slim to non show up in your blood stream. You want to stay away with anything that gives you a LOAD of hormones and stick to low hormones due to your disorder. Mirena is the most effective birth control out there! It's failure rate is 0.1% and tubal ligation failure rate is 0.5%.

I have had a copper one (no hormones) for about 3 years. I love it! There was some cramping right after they put it in, but other than that, no problems... and none of the side-effects that the hormonal birth control methods have.

A nurse at my ob/gyn had mentioned trying something without the hormones/steroids if I wanted to lose weight. She had said that the steroids in the other methods actually keep you from losing weight. It seemed to help, along with proper food and exercise of course, but I've lost and kept off 40 pounds. Still trying to lose more too.

Periods are like they used to be, but hey, that's part of being a woman. I feel more clear headed now and my arm isn't sore for a week after like it was after the depo shots. I get less headaches and feel much much better. I'm not sure about the anxiety/panic disorder. Like I said, the one I have is just copper, and no hormones or anything to really create side effects or drug interactions.

Just my opinion. Good luck with whatever you decide.

One thing at a time girl. The IUD would probably be okay for you. They usually won't put it in a women unless she has had a child or two. It is a implanted device that sits in your uterus and will not let anything implant in the lining. It can be a very good long term choice for birth control and has few side effects.

You should visit a regular doctor for anxiety and panic disorder. You may need medication to help you. Good luck.

I was on the IUD for quite a while before I had a tubal ligation. It worked great.

As for the panic disorder, see your doctor for an anti-anxiety medication and a referral to a mental health professional for counseling.
