Smart people don't believe the mainstream media. All they care about is selling ad time and getting high ratings - not reporting news.

The enemy is never stupid. The enemy knows what is going on. The government is using the media to instill fear in the American people. Government controls the masses through fear and thereby fosters the false belief that government can solve all problems and protect the citizens from all forms of terror and disaster. This is how government justifies its existence. We need government because it is the most effective way to get tings done for the common good of the people, but what we need from government the most is honest and respect for the common man. Life is not fair and all the actions of government can never please everyone, but outright deception is uncalled for. I believe that the American people are educated enough and intelligent enough to take the truth from our leadership.

Why don't you try watching the enemies' media. It could help you put it all together. I live on the other side of the world and i get to see both. You really feel that both are extremly biased and that none is telling the truth. Rather. everybody is bending it to look good. If you only watch one side you get to become biased yourself because it will get you conditioned eventually, i think it already started with you because the words you chose in your question are heavily used by the media you have surrounded yourself with...Peace.

The media does not care about terrorists... the media just wants to bring down the Presidency. George Bush marginalized and ignored them and they want revenge.
However, to get at Bush the media prints things that embolden the enemy. Their literal brainwashing of the public concerning Iraq has led to more US combat deaths by attracting the enemy and testing the country's resolve. The media conveniently ignores any good that is done and concentrates on the bad, that makes for journalism that is hardly impartial.
This main battleground of this war is not in Iraq, it is in the media.

Ideally, the media would just report the news, not make it. Early in the war, there were embedded reporters. It does make you wonder why the military has backed away from that. I hear it said by solders that the people at home are not getting the whole story. Why not? I suspect that the people at the top don't want the story told.

The media is actually scaring the American public by showing the worst things that happen and making them seem even more horrible . The enemy is loving this because it's only adding to the terror they are trying to inflict .

The government can't possibly use a liberal media to their advantage. But the media is certainly doing it's part in portraying the US as weak willed and divided, which is great in the minds of terrorists.

Why is Iran still developing Nuclear Weapons?
Why is Syria still supplying weapons to Hamas?
It is more like media taking there talking points from Osama!

Most assuredly the government is not trying to boost the terrorists moral by destroying America's support for the war.
In a pole taken three years ago 70% of journalists identified themselves as being liberal democrats, and it simply shows in their reporting.
