I have had a couple of clients who have used cervidil the night before their pitocin induction. They both ended up going into labor with the cervidil alone, and not needing the pitocin in the morning. Cervidil is a synthetic form of human male semen. It is used to help soften the cervix, which is the same thing that semen does.

My doctor tried to induce me with it with baby number 4. I labored all day and ended up dilating barely 1 more cm. and they finally gave up an let me rest for the night. They started at 6 AM next morning and things went great from there. But you have to remember your body is diff and you may be more ripe for an induction than I was...
