I feel like my ears are being violated. Headphones sound much better and are much more comfortable although they don't look as trendy. I guess it's like comparing heels to orthopedic shoes.

No, you're not. Earbuds are awful, and I'm sure a lot of people agree.

They're creepy, gross and unhygenic (would you share them with a friend?) I even wrote a horror story about them. Well, not about them, but at the end... well, enough about that.

The funny thing is, I remember when earbuds came out, Entertainment Tonight ran a story on how doctors believed they caused more damage to your hearing. You couldn't trick people into wearing earbuds. Then along comes the iPod and suddenly it's "in" to stick these nasty little things in your ears and rattle your eardrums with Jay-Z's drum samples.

In Summery: Earbuds bad. Headphones good. End of story.

You are not the only one--and my hubbie hates them too. I got him an Ipod for X-mas that came with the earbuds and he went out and bought real headphones instead. They usually don't really fit and always feel like they are coming out and then they really hurt my ears. I always thought that maybe my ears were deformed and couldn't figure out how everyone else could use them.

I don't particularly hate the earbuds themselves, persay.

I hate the people at the other end of the earbuds who choose to play their music too loud so that while I am grocery shopping at my local Wal-Mart and they are oblivious to everything around them and after saying "Excuse Me" four times I must run into their behind in order to get their attention so they move the HE** out of the way so I can finish my shopping!!!!!

I get the whole I-Pod MP3 and what have you craze, but what I don't get is why some people find it necessary to have the dang things EVERYWHERE they go. There is a time and place for them and if you can't survive a trip into a store without your music, it is time for you to seek some professional help. I went to a MOVIE last weekend and the girl in front of me had one in bud in and the other one out, I assume so she could listen to the movie and her music at the same time......WTF????? I find it completely and totally rude to try and carry on a conversation with someone and they have to keep one of their dang ear buds in.

OK, stepping off me soapbox now....

I, too, prefer the whole earphone thing, but not in public places.

i agree...i get earaches with the earbuds sometimes. you're not a loner on this one...You could try the headphones that have two ear pieces that clip onto your ears but have large, soft, round pads for a more comfortable way to tune!

I always buy the ear phones that attach to each ear individually. (they have a plastic piece that slips behind your ear to hold them inplace, sorta how glasses fit behind your ears) They are much easier for me to wear than actual ear phones with the head band . They're a bit more expensive than the cheap old plastic ear phones and I hate ear buds too.

They are awful!

I am so jealous of people who can wear them, because in order to match the sound quality of a good pair.. I have to spend twice as much on headphones.

I want some Bose headphones.. those look nice. (Expensive, though.)

Earbuds are one of the worst inventions ever. They hurt your ears, fall out, and just generally are irritating.

I hate earbuds because they never fit my ears well. It Hurts! My ears are too small for them I think.

i offered the Apple earphones with distant + Mic, that are $29.ninety 9, and observed that they are lots extra suited than those that got here with the iPod, however they could seem very comparable. The twine used with them i stumbled directly to be lots extra sturdy than the default ones.

My problem is that my ear canal is too small. I need to use the traditional over-the-head headphones.
