okay sorry, but i'm not a male...but i am a christian.

i don't think that he should email the pastor...the pastor can't help what is going on in your friends brain. he should see a psychologist. in the meantime, as his anger for mastubating he needs to hold tightly onto blocks of ice until they melt (it hurts but does no physical damage...) tell him to see a psychologist ASAP.

I'm christian but not a male. I have to tell you that masturbating is a normal part of being a human and it is also very healthy to do. I have had many conversations about this with the pastors and nuns at my church. And unfortunately the church is not always right. For instance using natural birth control which is what married couples do to prevent conception. They refrain from having sexual intercourse. But, in the 60's when the church was teaching this they didn't have all the facts and women got pregnant all the time. It is better to masturbate than to have sex or worse rape someone. Masturbating is healthy and many many girls do it too. We just don't talk about it and we deny it. Although probably not girls your age. More like college and older.

Burning himself isn't helping the matter. It is natural to pleasure yourself, Christian or not. However, if he feels it is too excessive, set up some accountability. Make sure he is always out with friends - you could even randomly call him and see what he's doing. There are ways to beat this, like every habit. Rewards along the way, at certain intervals, are most helpful. Maybe say "if you do it only ten times or less this week, I'll take you to a movie..." and so forth.

I'm male and a Christian. If your friend feels he is doing something wrong then he shouldn't do it. Masturbation can become an obsession which can lead to many sinful acts.

But your friend seems to also have a deeper problem. Hurting himself as punishment is self destructive. God never wants someone to hurt themselves.

I think your friend should talk to his preacher, but also a psychologist. Masturbating excessively and inflicting pain to oneself sounds like your friend has anger problems and is trying to release the anger in the best way he knows how.

First, Masturbation is not a sin. Masturbation is not mentioned in the old or new testament. In order for an act to be a sin it has to be an act that god told us not to do. Masturbation is normal, okay, and in fact healthy for you. You should feel comfortable masturbating when you feel the need and your young body will feel the need more. When you get older the need will lessen. Masturbation is God's gift to men so that they can take control of their sexual feelings and not sin. Just remember to keep it personal and private. Remember masturbation does not appear in the bible at all. So if his pastor comes up with a biblical excuse for not masturbating he is lying or does not know his bible. check this web site. www.boysunderattack.com.

First: By limiting your answers to Male Christians you're not going to get many.

Second: Talking to your pastor is an idea...although I think a doctor might be able to provide better help. He likes the sense of euphoria that he gets when he does it. Everyone does. The key is to replace that euphoria with something else. When he gets an urge he needs to go do something else. Anything, to keep his mind off of it, and stop him from thinking about it.

For one he needs to stop punishing himself. Two, I am a Christian male and I masturbate all the time. You guys are still going through puberty and it is okay to masturbate. Almost every guy will either masturbate sometime in his lifetime or does it on a regular basis. It is just a natural thing.

Ya know, I've just about had it with these certain "groups" determining what is right and wrong. What do you think you have those things on your bodies for? God wants you to have pleasure in life, not be a self-sacrificing puppet! Never mind the pastor, it's not his business! Tell your friend to get to a psychologist, and to stop burning his hands! See what religious zealotism does to you!?!?
P.S. I am a female Spiritualist, and I see beyond the foolishness of others telling you what to do and not do!

okay first, he needs to stop punishing himself. if he's that concerned he should go speak with his pastor or a psychiatrist. help him find something else to do to occupy his mind and his time... like that old saying, "idle hands are the work of the devil." just keep him busy so he can't touch himself.

He needs to quit paying attentiion to people that tell him he is sinning. Religion is manmade, so sin is manmade. Torturing himself is wrong, you need to tell his parents he is torturing himself, he should not talk to the pastor, that guy will just tell him he is sinning when masterbation is a normal act. He might also try something with him, don't trust ministers with kids. Your friend has psycho problems, you need to talk to the school counselor on his behalf, so the counselor can get him help if you won't tell his parents. He could permanently injure himself.
