I think college should be made mandatory either 2 year or 4 year. I think there would be a lot less poverty, and welfare if college was made mandtory. Then our government should pay for tuition, books, housing (dorm) transportation (bus) and supplies, food. It sounds like it would cost a lot, but in the end all these other social programs to stop crime and pay for medicaid/foodstamps are too. I think there would be a lot less poor people, and welfare, and crimes if college was made mandatory. What do you think?

I think that if one goes to college they will like it and want to improve themselves, who knows what you can become when you go to college. I think people would benefit from manatory college. There would have to be people there to help with learning disabilities disabilites or other problems, anything to get you to graduate from college with a degree so you can make good money.

I think that if you choose not to go to college then there should be a trade school option. Not everyone is college material but if they are taught a trade like welding or automotive this will provide a way to earn a living. They already require everyone to goto high school which was not mandatory in the past and that has not stopped any violence/ poverty/ crime. Making everyone go to college is not the solution sorry

No, I don't agree. I see what you're saying, but this isn't a fool-proof plan at all. Some people just aren't good enough for college and don't apply themselves at all. College is not for everyone. There are some people that drop out of high school and end up millionaires. My sister has a teacher in a nursing program she's in that was just trained for nursing. She went to college because her parents made her go, and she hated it and ended up dropping out. My sister doesn't want to go to college. Besides, what happens when everyone is going to college, and no one is working in the little things like welding, maintenance, etc.??? Everyone would be lawyers, doctors, teachers, and the other things people become with college degrees. Who's going to graduate with an English major, but clean the school? Who's going to clean the school, the kids trying to study, since they're all going to go to college?

I don't think that forcing someone to go to college is going to be the answer. There aren't even enough colleges that can accept everybody, and not everyone can afford it.
Plus, its important to know what you want to do before you go to college, otherwise it's a giant waste of time and money. Taking a couple of years off between high school and college is a good idea as it will let people sort of learn what they want to do, instead of jumping in blindly.

How would one social program end all the others? If college was mandatory, it would just mean that minimum wage jobs would go to those with bachelor's degrees, and the rest of us wanting to do well would have to spend even MORE time in school to earn our masters or doctorate.

It's March. You graduate in May or June. That's best two-three months left. Then you are performed. My peers who dropped out of HS at this factor critically kicked themselves within the *** for doing so quickly after. They could *strongly* endorse you to only suck it up, stick it out, and graduate. What's 2 months? You can *do* 2 months. Who cares if you do not know any individual at this HS? You are serving a while there, so you'll be able to get this performed, after which transfer directly to anything bigger. So quit being absent, and get this performed. It's now not that you would switch to the cc - it is that you would nonetheless be a HS pupil, taking a category there, and having that magnificence switch again for your HS. You'd have got to uncover out if the cc presents this magnificence over the summer season, and in the event that they do, then speak for your college to uncover out if they would receive the cc credit in the direction of your HS commencement. Spring time period has already began at group institution. You are not able to simply leap into a category, mid-time period. You'd have got to begin the category in the summertime time period, or subsequent fall, relying on if/whilst it is furnished. You'd ought to pay for any cc magnificence you are taking, at the same time your HS magnificence is unfastened.
