Weathering has two types:
Mechanical & Chemical
1. Mechanical weathering tends to disintigrate the rock to smaller fragments without change in chemical composition. It occurs through many processes (e.g. Unloading, Frost Wedging, Crystal Growth, Freezing-Thawing, growth of plant roots, and effect of burrowing animals)
2. Chemical weathering results in a change in the chemical composition of the rock by one or more of these processes (Oxidation, Hydrolysis, Hydration, Dissolution, and Carbonation)

This is a brief view on weathering. Hope it helped
