I know that using anti-aging creams NOW at this age of 22 will not help (it might even be harmful?) .. so, what are the things I have to do to take care of my skin (face) so that I won't age faster? I'm not talking about not smoking, not drinking, and those kind of things. I'm talking about what I have to use on my skin in order to prevent wrinkles and things. Please give me steps of what I have to do/use on my skin everyday. For example,
1) morning - wash my face with facial cleanser
2) toner, moisturizer
3) night - wash my face before I goto bed, moisturize.

You get the idea.

Please help because I think many of my friends and people in the 20's would find this information useful... so that they won't age prematurely and will have beautiful skin until they're old. :) All input would be very much appreciated.

Hi, princess_sparkles -

The regimen you mentioned is perfect, however, you left out the most important product - which is SUNBLOCK. Use one with an SPF of 35. Add this to your morning regimen, and reapply as needed.

When buying your toner, moisturizer and sunblock, look out for non-comedogenic products - these have nano particles that allow the product to seep in faster and does not clog pores to prevent breakouts.

I suggest that your morning moisturizer be different from your evening one. Your morning moisturizer must contain SPF for prevention while your evening moisturizer should contain ingredients for restoration.

For the eyes, put anti-wrinkle eye cream for both morning and evening. Also, there are available anti-wrinkle lip creams that you should use day and night as well.

When using toner, moisturizer and sunblock, make sure that you also apply on the neck area.

Also, you might want to have a monthly FACIAL and DIAMOND PEEL. These treatments remove dead skin cells and speeds up the skin's cell renewal process - thereby minimizing the accumulation of wrinkles.

It is also important to note that facial expressions greatly contribute to the appreance of wrinkles. So, in an effort to minimize lines, make sure that your face is not overly animated during conversations. It may sound weird, but if you think about it, that's what botox does. It numbs your muscles to prevent your skin from creasing!

Also, drink lots of water throughout the day. Do not try to catch up for lost glasses of water in the evening just so you can say that you've had 8 glasses. You have to consume liquids throughout the course of the day amounting to 8 (or more) glasses.

Take Vitamin E, too. Vitamin E is responsible for erradicating free radicals in the body. Free radicals are destructive to the human cells and are responsible for the skin's degeneration (among other things). Talk to your pharmacist on which brand and what dosage would best suit your needs.

I commend you for putting a conscious effort in taking care of your skin at an early age. You will definitely reap the benefits of following a skin care regimen religiously in the following years (when you will be mistaken for someone younger) ;)

Cheers!

The most important thing you can do for your skin is the wear sunscreen.

Also, always use mile hypo allergenic face products, preferably without too many fragrances or colors

On a personal note: My grandmother is in her late 60's yet she looks to be in her 40's. Her advice is sunscreen and Oil of Olay face cream.

Also, for make up that won't hurt your skin and the truth about face products. Try the book, "Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me by
