Getting popups when you visit a website or page can be handled by the Popup Blockers in the Google and Yahoo Toolbars. Windows XP also has a built in popup blocker.

On the Google Toolbar: Find the Options. Make sure the box for the popup blocker is checked.

Yahoo Toolbar: Click on the Popup Blocker Icon and check "Always allow popups from this site".

In Internet Explorer: Go to Tools>Internet Options>Privacy Tab>make sure the box is checked to turn on the Popup Blocker.

All a popup really is an advertisment. I would so go and get a pop up blocker. If your running windows xp SP2 it automatically has a pop up blocker. But if you don't download the yahoo toolbar and enable the pop up blocker. For almost every site there is a pop up since its a free site. The bottom line i mean is your best bet would be to get a pop up blocker and enable it and that will take care of most of them.

is it in one of those gary backround ones?

if so go under contol panel, admin options, services, then find the thing that says messages or messaging, disable it, this should solve your problem

with out some updates the defualt for this option is on, it should however be off if you dont want pop ups

it's just a pop-up in your cookies, depending on what kind of browser you are using, just delete your cookies and download a free pop-up blocker off of download.com
