first, the gay Disney people wear agree to red clothing so they'll be recognizable as part of the group--is this being a billboard? but aside from that, you apparently don't read the papers or follow the news, but a large portion of the establishment in America has declared war on the rights of gays. Politicians in some parts of the country have found they can get reelected by passing bills aimed at keeping gay people on the margins. Televangelists have found that lots of fearful, unsophisticated people will send them lots of money if they preach about the homosexual scourge sweeping across America. so given this environment, it's not hard to understand why gay people might want a little visibility at middle america's favorite leisure park. it shows the rest of the country that gay people like to go on rides and eat ice cream in the summer like everyone else. If this were the 60s, you probably would be asking why those black people insist on marching with their signs.
