I just got an iPod nano for Christmas too, and by now I am pretty much an expert. I pay .99 cents, though. I use iTunes. You can put songs onto your iPod with CD's that you have. Just plug you iPod into the computer and then put the CD in the computer. Pick the different songs you want from that CD and drag them to your playlist or whatever you have. (I'm not sure if Napster will work.....) When you have music that you want to put onto your iPod, click the button that says (your name)'s iPod, and click 'music'. click sync music, and then click 'all songs and playlists' and click 'apply' at the bottom. if it is already on 'all songs and playlists' then click 'selected playlist' and choose your playlist you want to put onto your iPod. If you don't click on the playlist that is already on your iPod, it will take those songs off of your iPod. Oh, and NEVER click RESTORE. It will erase all of your songs off of your iPod. Glad that I could help! If that didn't help, than follow the instructions on the instruction sheet you got when you got your iPod. That way you can get iTunes. Getting iTunes is free, but you need to pay for the songs, otherwise it is illegal!

Yes, napster will work.
The itunes software that came with your player can convert most popular formats to match the ipod, so don't worry too much about formats.
There are many file-sharing services that may contain many MP3s, such as Bearshare and Shareaza, and they will turn up in a Yahoo for "file sharing".
*These sharing services have come under a lot of scrutiny lately for supposedly offering free, and therefore illegal, music files to it's members...consider yourself warned.

Plug in your iPod to the computer (it may open Itunes automatically) then put your music CD into the CD drive on your computer. You will see the disc it iTunes. Click on the disc, choose the songs you want, and then drag it to the iPod. Wait for it to show a plus sign when you drag the songs over. Then release the mouse and your songs should transfer.

well if you have cd's that's one way to do it, just rip your cd to your itunes program, that's how I got most of my songs on there. Or if you Have a windows media player, I think if you have a bunch of songs on there, you can import them into itunes.....And I know it sux to pay 99cents for the itunes, but it's cool if someone gives you a gift certificate......I got one for xmas.....but It sucks if you don't have internet, you can only use your ipod on one computer, or it will erase your library and replace the new computers list........well Hope I helped, and good luck!
