Good Afternoon,

The past couple of weeks have been really weird for me. I have started breaking out with pimples, I feel tired, I have been sick twice in the morning, and I have this strange pain in my lower back. I thought I may be pregnant but when I take a test it comes out negative. My period isn't for another 2 weeks. Am I supposed to wait until my period to check to see if I am pregnant? Can doctor tests tell if I am pregnant sooner than home tests?

Thanks!
Kimberley

most at home tests suggest you wait until the day you expect to start your period. otherwise your hormones are too low. Here is what i found:
"In clinical testing, First Response® detected the hormone levels in 69% of women 4 days before their expected period, in 83% of women 3 days before their expected period, in 93% of women 2 days before their expected period, and in 93% of women 1 day before their expected period."
So the longer you wait the more accurate the test. If you can't wait- call your dr.

There is a good chance that you still might be pregnant, but it's too early for the test you took to show it yet. Seeing your doctor is the best thing because his tests are more advanced and can pick up pregnancy earlier than any over the counter test. There is a rare occasion where some woman's urine won't test positive for pregnancy, they have to do blood work for it to show. Maybe you're one of those women. So the best thing is to go to the doctor and get a check up.

generally home tests aren't accurate until a couple days before a missed period, and that early you can still get a negative result. really you should wait until you've missed a period.

a blood test at the doctor's office can give an exact count of hCG hormones in your blood. just having the hCG means you are pregnant.

if you are concerned, and can't wait until you've missed a period, you should call your doctor and see if they are willing to do a blood test. with current health insurance plans, not all doctors will do one this early.

good luck!

Yea, you can tell from the doc through a blood test almost immediately, if your period isn't due for another 2 weeks though that means you'r ovulating now... so it's possible you ovulated early in your cycle, or have a longer cycle then 28 days. I'd wait a week and have the doc take a test.

The time that you get pregnant is about 2 weeks before your period is due; so if you are pregnant it would only be a couple of days and in the implanting stage. You would not have syptoms yet. If there is apossibility wait a couple of weeks and test again.

You are supposed to wait until after a missed period to take a test. I would wait atleast a week or 2 after your missed period. You may just be experiencing pms symptoms.

yeah the hormone might not be stron enough but if you still have 2 wks. i wouldnt stress about bein prego yet. go to your doctor if your really concerned and get a blood test. i think it might be too early still but whatever its worth a shot.
the cramps in your back could be from geting ready to start your period too.
