Sir Isaac Newton was born on 4th January 1643 and died on 31 March 1727. His famous book was called 'Philosophiac Naturalis Principa Mathematica'. I guess he would have been knighted for services to Mathematics and Science.

Isaac Newton was born on 25th December 1642 going but the old Julian calendar, or 4th January 1643 by the Gregorian calendar that we now use. He died on 20th March 1727. His principal work was Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica (Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy) and it was published in 1687. It described his three laws of motion and the theory of universal gravitation. He was knighted by Queen Anne "an honor bestowed not for his contributions to science, nor for his service at the Mint, but for the greater glory of party politics in the election of 1705" (Westfall 1993, p. 625).
Hope this helps.
