2.84 g S
4.36 - 2.84 = 1.52 g O

Atomic Mass S = 44.9 g/mole
Atomic Mass 0 = 16 g/mole

2.84/44.9 = 0.063 mole S
1.52 / 16 = 0.095 mole O

0.095 / 0.063 = 1.5 O for each S
or
S2O3

Moles of scandium = 2.84/45 = 0.06311

Moles of Oxygen atoms = (4.36-2.84)/16 = 0.095
Divide the max moles by ninimum moles to get the ratio = 0.095/0.06311 = 1.5

If we double it :perfect Integer = 3

3 mols of oxygen to 2 moles of Scandium

Empirical formula = Sc2O3

I have assumed that the oxide is perfectly stoichiometric
