I think people have always questioned the facts, regardless of movies and television shows. I think movies and television shows are the creative products of people inspired by conspiracy.

It was probably the Kennedy assassination that had the most impact as far as the public's willingness to believe in conspiracies. I happen to not buy into conspiracies, because of that whole Occam's Razor thing.

Umm, I think that they added on to the preconceived notions that the government is lying, etc. But they weren't the ones to give people that idea. Once the movie people got wind that people were believing more and more in the government concpiracies, they decided to make some money off of that. Plus, it was really popular at the time. They made the X-Files based on the current mindset that people had at the time--and many people still believe in those things. Basically, the idea's about government concpiracies were already there, X-Files and, I guess, Matrix added onto what people already thought and put more idea's into their head--though, who knows, they may be right...

"Our generation" ?? Well, for MY Generation (I'm 42) the great conspiracy film was "JFK"...

Oliver Stone had people actually BELIEVING his story...

Of course, then you also have such delightful films as "Enemy of the State", "Capricorn One", "Nixon", and the aptly titled "Conspiracy Theory".

Yes, I'm amazed at those who espouse the insane theory that the second tower strike was preceeded by a missile launch !! Gee, I watched it LIVE and saw NOTHING like that... and I'm a former Naval Aviator trained to notice such little details like a MISSILE launching.

I actually know fools who believe that the whole Bush Administration is a conspiracy... part of the Trilateral Commission !! Of course these same folks think that "separation of church and state" is in the Constitution, AND that the Constitution includes a "Right to Privacy"

No. Ever read conspiracy theories about the Kennedy assassination? There's one to blame everyone except Lee Harvey Oswald. And that was long before "The Matrix" and "The X-Files."

Watergate, the FBI in the 60s, Iran-Contra, poisoning Tuskegee blacks, war plans for Iraq that pre-date 9/11 ---- hell, I just let real life convince me of conspiracies.

Movies, TV shows and the media crap, together with a sheer lack of book-reading, has turned today's youths into dangerously gullible morons.

It's all of the corruption and scandals that have led people to question things more. People are more and more cynical each year and nothing really escapes that cynaism.

Er..........................
No.
But that doesn't mean that I simply ignore those conspiracies. Who knows. Those consipiracy theories do have some insight. But I don't believe them 100%.
