This "lil guy" will grow to the size of a dinner plate and eat any fish he can catch. They are not good community tank residents.

That said, they are also fascinating and great to have as pets if you have a tank big enough for them when they grow up. They are not subject to the regular parasites and diseases that live feeder fish bring into the home aquarium so you can give him feeder guppies, rosy reds and goldfish as he gets larger and larger.

Feed him once a day or keep some live feeder fish in the tank for him to chase around and feed on as he gets hungry. Or, if you don't like feeding live food, try frozen foods until he gets large and then go to whitefish from the grocery store. He will eat almost anything.

You can overfeed anything and it could be fatal. Keep looking for a website that will give you more specifics, ask the petstore or check with a vet for info or referances.

Absolutely !!!
I have one in a community tank and he is very passive (rare I know). But I only feed him one cube of frozen bloodworms a week, plus what ever he can muster from what my community leaves behind (which isn't much ... the pigs).
:)
He does very well and I have been doing this routine for 6 months now
