NEVER give them money. Buy them something to eat , if you want, or tell them where they might get a free meal (such as a soup kitchen)

I'd rather buy them a meal, or give them something to eat then and there, but since I have been hit on the head, foot, butt, and back with food I have given away on the street by people who didn't exactly want the money for food but for some other thing I have become a little more careful on who I give it to.

You should buy them the meal to make sure that is really why they need money. I have had a guy turn down my meal. He wanted the money but his sign said he needed food.

I will buy them a meal. You never know what they really do with the money, they could probably use it to go buy drugs or alcohol.

I buy them a meal. Sometimes they are truly grateful, other times they look terribly disappointed... which tells me that they did not want the money for food after all.

Buy them a meal, because one time I gave the money and I saw them coming of the store with no food.
One time a guy told my husband that he hadn't eaten in days so my husband offered him his lunch that he brought from home and the bastard had the nerve to say thanks for nothing and with that attitude that is exactly what he got... nothing!

I usually give them money but I suppose it's better to buy them a meal.

To tell you the truth i really don't give any thing because of the simple fact i always see those ppl with differ clothes on looking sharper then they should be also one time i bumped in to a guy who so called act as if he was blind and then i seen him with a girl walk on the train kissing up on her i was like hmmmm!

I buy them a meal. We have a guy in our area with a dog. I always get him and his dog something to eat.

I offer to give them food.
Believe it or not, most of them actually tell you not to bother because they want money, not sustanance!
I once offered a guy a bag of carrots, muesli bars and other bits and pieces and he didn't want it. He only wanted cash. I reckon you can figure out what I thought of that!
