Get a hand cranked flash light. No need for batteries. Keep them where you can get at it.
Close all the closet doors. You will run into half open doors in the dark really bad and you will get hurt.
Get a hand crank radio to listen to news about the reason for black out and what the authorities are doing to restore power or whatever else.
Some dry fruits, dry items that you can eat and bottles of clean water.
keep your medications that need refrigeration in an ice box or in your freezer. (Insulin, for example). Keep the freezer opening/closing to a minimum.
Get your significant other and cuddle to give each other body warmth.

Candles
Torches
Batteries (for the above)
Camping gaz lanterns - They give out loads of light
Board games - in case you get bored
Books - same as above
Clock work radio
Camping Stove - if your cooker is electric
Mobile phone - if phone line is lost as well
Generator - if you are remote and power cuts are common
That is what I would have anyway! Hope it doesn't happen to you.
