I'm guessing it's because Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are the busiest days (since most people do stuff on the weekends), so they take advantage of a slower business day to close.

Barber shops and restaurants too. That is traditional, nothing more. Increasingly these traditions are being ignored. However, the workers need a "weekend" somehow.

They probably need on day off. And weekends are usually the busiest time. Monday is probably their slow time so they pick that day.

Is it all mondays?? I wasn't even aware of that- I work mondays and the only time I don't is on holidays.
