If you need to remove the pulley, then you probably need a pulley puller kit. You can rent a set from an equipment rental store for pretty cheap, and they are universal.

If it is the crank pulley/harmonic balancer you are trying to remove, the easy way is put a socket with a breaker bar on it. Put the bar against the frame in the direction of rotation and hit the starter. The starter will break the bolt loose. Socket should be 21 mm. Don't have anyone close to engine when trying the starter.

Usually pulley will easily come off. If not you should be able to either rent a puller, or some parts stores loan pullers and other specialty tools.

Good luck

the first guy were given it precise, impact wrench works ideal. however, he did not indicate that many crank shaft bolts are opposite-threaded (left = tight and precise = free)! once you've or can borrow a service guide it may inform you this. also, often times there is an arrow on the bolt (for direction to loosen). once you get the bolt out you should favor a pulley-puller (even if that's a good in good structure on the end of the crankshaft). that's a gadget that grabs the pulley from 2 aspects and has a bolt contained in the middle that you turn it to push hostile to the crankshaft and pull the pulley off. you could commonly borrow one at an motor vehicle factors save.

I think you are talking about the harmonic balancer. The nut has to be impacted off, there is no other easy way. Once the nut is off you will need a puller, they are pretty cheap, you should be able to pick up a set for $20 - $40...
