If you don't want to donate them to libraries I would suggest listing them on half.com It doesn't cost you anything until they sell, and then the charge is quite low. You do have to have the means to send them out through the mail, such as packaging, etc. (always send by USPS book rate, it's the least expensive way to go when sending books through the mail).
Or there's the ebay option but if choosing that route, I find that it's cheaper and best to list all of your books in one lot...maybe seperate by catagory. I find the true crime really sells well on ebay in lots of at least 6 books for a decent price. Check ebay out and see if the books you have are selling. Otherwise I would stick with half.com.
You could also donate them to a worthy cause. Alot of helping agencies often have book sales to raise money for their cause. Selling them at a garage or yard sale is another option, but considering the hassle involved and what you get for them at a yard sale you might as well donate them.
Lastly, another idea is to call a local used book store and see if they buy them.
Good luck to you!

There are some that I will keep because I know I'll re-read them over the years. The ones I no longer want, I'll either give to friends or donate to a local library. Barnes & Noble will buy used books provided they're in decent condition. Granted, you won't get much for used books, but you at least get something.

Check your locale. In Knoxville, Tennessee I had running trades with McKay's Books: a real treat. In Tucson we have Bookmans Used Books. Find out what you have locally. It is a lot of fun. Shopping for used books can be disappointing or exhilarating. I can never find what I am looking for, but If I am patient and just browse, then, I find treasures I would have never thought of. Also, Amazon.com is great to sell used books and buy them too. Here you will find anything you are looking for.

There might be a used book store in your area that will buy the books from you. You can check in the phone book. I have sold many, many books to a store named Half Price Books. My girlfriend sells hers on Amazon.com. I also give some of mine to friends.

There are used book stores out there. Check your yellow pages. Our local one will take books, and then either pay you for them, or give you store credit towards purchases.
You can also donate to a library.

Personally I like to keep all of my books, but if you don't need them any more, there are plenty second-hand stores that will buy them - of course at a much lower price than you bought them, but still...

If friends/family don't want them, and I don't want to keep them for future reference, I give them to charity. No use filling my house with things someone else could be using!
Depending where you live, there should be used book stores to take them, but sometimes they're quite choosy about what they'll take.

I keep all my books. You can donate them to the to library for a tax deduction, though, and there are used bookstores who will buy them for store credit or cash.
