I personally think that it would horrify him, knowing that he stood for education, was an excellent speaker with great English skills, and that he stood for the moral high ground for societal change.

i bet he's turning in his grave right about now. the things that he preached and wanted for blacks, they have abused and have taken for granted. he never would want rappers to degrade women the way that they do and then praise the Lord when they accept an award for their work. He would be horrified at all of the crimes blacks are responsible for. it's almost like asking "what exactly did he die for?" blacks are equal to everyone else as far as education, work, and society but is that all we have accomplished since his death? just being able to attend the same school as my white neighbor?

There's a great episode of the Boondocks, in which the creator puts forth the notion that MLK did not die, but instead stayed in a coma, and then wakes up now in present day. (all hypothetical)

It's really a great episode. He is totally disappointed with what has happened to his movement, and modern day Blacks denounce him and the things he says. Finally, he loses his cool and yells at everyone, sparking a racial revolution to finally bring America into a new golden age of understanding and intelligence.

I'm probably doing a bad job of explaining, so go out and rent it.

Yeah he is probably puking in his grave.

But he already gave a speach that addresses this issue -
"The Drum Major Instinct"

You can listen to an excerpt which gives the answer to this question. http://thekingcenter.com/

if you want to be important, wonderful,
if you want to be recognized, wonderful
if you want to be great, wonderful
But recognize, that he who is great among you is a servant, (and he doesn't mean a domestic worker)

Servant in the sense like he was a servant of humanity.

To lead is to serve, by taking responsibility for your words and actions. Recognizing that because you have the freedom or right to express yourself in anyway you want -- that you don't have to adhere to an ethical standard is just plain foolish.

Unearned suffering is redemptive? maybe and maybe not, but adding to a hate pot is not a solution either.

MLK Jr. was a great "man of faith" a BIG christian which many of us try to ignore...

We need the change that this man spoke about when he lived, and that change comes from our faith. Rappers wouldnt be rapping about drugs, money, hoes, cars, and gangs if they were more exposed to Jesus and his love and Salvation.
Most of these rappers live in multi-million dollar homes with 10 cars in their lots and they still rap about poverty, gangs, drugs, and "Da hood" when they no longer live in "Da hood". Its all just a scheme for money, giving teens "cool thoughts of being tough and holdin guns to their neighbors" I believe MLK would be very upset.
WE NEED more people like that man to preach to us, question is will we listen?

well lets hope he doesn't rise from the grave i doubt he wants to byt i believe he would mortifed as well he didn't stand for the stuff in the music or saying the stuff some rappers say . he didn't stand for embolizing gangsters for the things they did or didn;t do and sang about it . that stuffisn't cool in my book . though there is good rap when kit doesn't emolize being a gangster

It would be considerate to leave Martin Luther King Jr. in peace.
