I used 19,295.33 pounds at $1.84 / lb and 22,409.13 at $2.07 / lb. What was the weighted average cost of sugar? Please also explain how you calculated the answer. I think I am looking for the weighed average, my boss wants to know how much sugar cost us last month.

Mike you are right that is too much for sugar. The material we bought was not sugar but something else. The price and quantities are actual.

You should buy a dress that will fit the body you have right now, especially if your wedding is in January. Many, many brides think they'll lose the 20 lbs, and then never do. You'll be dealing with all the stress of planning the wedding, plus you get the holidays to contend with as well. I read today that the average American gains 10-12 lbs from October to January. Get the dress to fit you today, because it's always easier to take it in than to let it out.

Weight avg is in $/lb.

(1) Calculate total $ paid to give you numerator in $. This equals sums of price per lb times number of lbs used
(2) Calculate total weight to give you denominator in lbs.
(3) weight average is (1)/(2) from above.

You can tell your boss he is paying way-way too much for his sugar. 18 tonnes of refined sugar should not have cost him much more than 7000 dollars , not 80000.

Best of Luck - Mike
