Well, there are several ways to do a sleeper hold. There is the "arm under" which is the one you see most of the time on wrestling programs, then there is the "arm bar" where the arm you would normally go under is instead held behind the persons back. There is a front sleeper hold which is difficult to explain. Mostly the way they do it on UFC and wrestling is the correct way; just squeeze a bit more and your opponent goes out.

When you are put out by a sleeper it really doesn't hurt. For a second you can't breath & then everything goes dark, You wake up a few seconds later and feel dizzy and disoriented kind of like being knocked out by a punch or kick. If you do this to someone in a competition be careful because you can cause damage if you hold it for too long, and that's not cool.

There are lots of things we wonder or explore, but ... sorry, some how your curiosity is a bit disconcerting, the only thing I can suggest is that perhaps you take up wrestling, as a sport, which you may well enjoy - and learn about different hold including the sleeper, by which time you may well have found something a whole lot more interesting. Good luck!

OK. Sleeper holds, there are several different techniques to do this but all are dangerous if done in jest.
I myself have been training in ninjutsu for the last 26 years and have had my fair share of them. Not nice
Head feels like its about to explode, piont of black-out is horrible.
Because its a suffocation technique, it feels worse if and hopefully when you "come round" as your head slowly emerges you in reality again, this is often followed by fits, and loss of bodilly control for a few minutes.
basically, a good move if you can apply it and hold it, but bloody horrible on the receiving end.
If your the `giver` then be carful not to place to much strength { as you can bruise or severely damage the throat, also dont hold it for to long, as you will cease all oxygen to the brain.
Hope this helps.

I assume you mean a blood choke, rather than an air choke (strangle). Do not mess with this stuff, unless you have been training extensively in this area. Yes, it is legal as a restraint technique, and I have had to use it once, but its a scary feeling going out then coming too. Too much pressure, you bruise or rupture something = death , too little and you will get a vicious migraine. DO NOT copy what the pro wrestlers or MMA artists do, pro wrestlers do not apply pressure, and MMA is so tightly monitored, the ref will step in before a cold KO.

Sleeper holds are effected by cutting off blood supply to the brain. So by pinching off both major arteries supplying blood to the brain you can then knock some one out. Have fun!!

Don't attempt one unless you have been shown by an experienced Martial Artist, they are dangerous and at best very unpleasant, and they can kill if not done properly. Take a valium instead, much better for you.

In judo I was taught a choke hold, I think it's a similar thing.

Blood flow in my carotid artery was stopped. It feels really nice. Like in the quavers advert I felt 'floaty light'. didn't hurt one bit.
