Firstly. what is good is relative -is there anything specific you want the laptop to do i.e. have a big screen or fast processor or large hard drive? For a cheap laptop, something has to give. And what gives depends on your needs.

If you are not playing games then you don't need huge processor or graphics. If yo are just surfing the web/general office stuff then you may not need DVD burner/bluetooth etc.

Go to some of the computer repair shops in your area, and ask if they have refurbished laptops. Be sure that the software on the machines is licensed, or you'll have problems getting it serviced if you ever have problems.

Probably the cheapest you will find is on eBay, as long as you know what you are looking for.
