Why would you approach him, are you interested? Dude, it's none of your business, why would you want to make it so? Just don't shower or sleep in the same bed with him if you're worried about it.

You did not actually say whether you like your cousin. Did you have a good relationship with him before you thought he was Gay. If so then leave it alone. Don't confront him, but listen to him and be there if he needs support or asks for your advice. Being the friend to him you were before you suspected he was Gay will not make you Gay, unless you want it to.

If on the other hand you did not have a good relationship with him before you thought he might be Gay, it could be that you are using his suspected Gayness as a label for your own dislikes of him as a person. In that case you need to do some real soul searching and determine if it is just the gayness that you dislike or if he has other characteristics you dislike. And if you understand the point of your own disgust with him then leave him alone anyway unless he is actively pursuing you.

Don't approach this unless there is a problem. You did not state a problem in your question.

If you are homophobic, get over it. Your cousin was cool enough to live with up until now. Unless there is some disrespectful behavior from your cousin, stay out of his/her personal life.

If his being gay would be a problem for you, then don't; mind your own business.

If you like him and his being gay would just be a big, "so what" for you, if you just want to be closer and be able to offer support, then say that. Otherwise, just mind your own business and leave him alone.

If you do decide to talk, do it carefully. I had an acquaintance at work who I was convinced was gay. I tried to approach him and with the very best intentions. It turned out he was vehemently straight, was seriously offended and never spoke to me again.

I would be very honest, neutral and direct with your cousin. It's the best way to approach your question. Be careful about not hurting his/her feelings. Be very natural and act normal. Make it sound like you don't care and don't ask too many questions.

Do you need to approach him about this? It will be for him to "come out" if and when he is ready, surely.

Alternatively, if you feel you must know (why? for your own "protection" or in order to support him?), talk to him in private and broach the subject with something along the lines of "Are you gay? I notice that..."

There's no reason whatsoever to approach him about it. If he's not ready to come out, then he wouldn't tell you even if you did approach him. I certainly hope this wouldn't be a problem for you, because if it is, then you're only going to make things worse for his coming out and sense of acceptance.

I would just serve as a support, but I wouldn't approach him. It seems like that is something he needs to be comfortable with initiating.

If you don't sleep in the same bed what's the issue? Perhaps you should "not" approach him. Just my opinion.

There's no point in approaching him. If he wants you to know, you'll know. If he doesn't, he'll probably lie anyway, especially if you come off all threatening. The question is, why does it matter?
