I have noticed (and it is in general agreement) that when visiting the seaside you are more tired than visiting an inland place. Why is this?

That's strange , sea air is so invigorating!
Mind you,
when i go to the sea side i always do a lot of walking on the beach and sploshing and some swimming ;
and with the sun and sea breeze,
i certainly sleep well at night

It could be a combination of extra activity , ozone in the air
and just a general feeling ,of well being.,
that makes you and me so sleepy .

Roll on Summer!!!!!!!!

'Salt in the air' has nothing to do with it. This is a throw-back to a Victorian belief that 'taking the airs' made you healthier, but has no basis in scientific fact.
What makes you tired is a change in activity. Depending on where you go, some of these factors might make it seem more tiring for you :
1 Increased activity (swimming in the sea, walking on a sandy beach)
2 Different diet (starchy foods like British fish n' chips that your body takes longer to digest)
3 Body's reaction to increased sunlight - spend a long time sleeping in the Sun and you'll just feel more sleepy as it dehydrates you.

It's dependent on changes in your behaviour, and not anything to do with the magical properties of the sea.

I think it's always a little bit more windy by the sea too. That makes me tired. Perhaps because the air is salty that makes it heavier?? lol, oh I don't know. May be that though.

if you are at the seaside you are usually in the sun! heat makes you tired quicker! you sit there in the baking sun eating a huge cornetto and wonder why you are tired quicker??
