Try the department of human services. My wife works there and sees these kinds of things all of the time.
If this happened at work, they have to pay you. If it didn't, check with your insurance company.

I'd say you're s h i t outa luck unless you can provide proof positive that merely losing a finger makes it impossible to work to support yourself.
While TEMPORARILY out of work while the wound heals, you'd be eligible for short-term disability payments, but those are not endless: they'll cut your tail off benefits when ya heal up and are capable of working again. That'll take six weeks.

This depends on where the accident occurred. If you cut your fingers off at work, Workman's Compensation will pay you while you heal. My husband had his fingers cut off, and it occurred at work. He got paid his weekly salary while he stayed at home.

Maybe your life insurance policy has a "loss of limb" clause that your are eligible for. Call your insurance agent.
