The most famous test for a witch was throwing the accused into a lake. If said person floated, they were a witch. If that person sank, they weren't a witch. Unfortunately, this test condemned the accused either way, as no one would jump into the lake to save a person who sank for fear of being accused themselves.

They did the swim test where the woman in question would be sent to the middle of the lake and if she could swim she was a witch and if she drowned then she wasn't. Nice weren't they?

There are others, but I can't think of them now.

The looked for an extra nipple or any flap of skin that would serve as a "witches teat" that the devil alledgedly sucked.

Any kind of marks or moles out of the ordinary.

They would pick a suspected witch with a pin. If she cried out she was a witch. (Dumb hey?)

They would tie her to a dunking chair and dip her in a pond of water. If she drowned she was innocent.
